Chemal DA-4

Chemal DA-4 is primarily recommended for evaluation in defoaming, wetting, and emulsification applications.

Chemal DA-4 is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols, INCI name: Deceth-4. Products in the Chemal DA series are based on decyl alcohol. Thanks to their strong detergency and dispersing capability, they are an ideal component of household, industrial, and institutional (HI&I) cleaning products. Chemal DA-4 is a clear to slightly hazy liquid with an active content of approximately 100%. The product may become a soft paste or stratify under cold conditions, but it is easily restored to homogeneity with gentle heat and mixing. The product is water-dispersible, with a water cloud point < 25 °C. Due to its limited water solubility, it forms hazy solutions when combined with water. However, its high surface activity makes it ideal for use in water and other liquids, resulting in a surface tension of 25.9 dyn/cm at 0.1% dilution. It can be used in combination with other nonionic, as well as cationic and anionic, surfactants. Chemal DA-4 is characterized by unstable, quick-breaking foam and delivers excellent performance in the Draves wetting test (7.0 s at 25 °C). With an HLB of 10.5, this product is useful as a co-emulsifier in multiple systems.
