Chemal DA-9

Chemal DA-9 is primarily recommended for evaluation in wetting, detergent, and emulsification applications.

Chemal DA-9 is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols, INCI name: Deceth-9. Products in the Chemal DA series are based on decyl alcohol. Thanks to their strong detergency and dispersing capability, they are an ideal component of household, industrial, and institutional (HI&I) cleaning products. Chemal DA-9 is a colorless liquid to soft solid with an active content of approximately 100%. The product may solidify or stratify under cold conditions, but it is easily restored to homogeneity with gentle heat and mixing. The product is water-soluble and shows a water cloud point of ~80 °C. Thanks to its water solubility, it forms clear solutions when combined with water. Its high surface activity makes it ideal for use in water and other liquids. It can be used in combination with other nonionic, as well as cationic and anionic, surfactants. Chemal DA-9 is characterized by moderate, persistent foam and delivers good performance in the Draves wetting test (48 s at 25 °C). With an HLB of 14.3, this product is useful as a co-emulsifier in many applications.
