Dimethyl ether is an organic compound from the group of ethers.
It is a colorless gas with a characteristic odor, moderately soluble in water. The product in aerosol form is used as a propellant (factor for discharging the contents). It is used in place of previously applied freons, because it has no harmful effect on the ozone layer. The product is therefore environmentally friendly. In addition, 100% of the energy needed to produce dimethyl ether comes from renewable sources (solar and wind energy). DME is present in the aerosol at a concentration of not less than 99.99%. It is produced by dehydration of methanol followed by rectification of DME.
