Exostat 187 is classified as one of the ethoxylated fatty acids.
It has the form of a dense paste or wax that turns into a liquid when heated. The product is not freely soluble and disperses in water. It dissolves well in alcohols and hydrocarbons. Its solidification point is around 29°C. Exostat 187 is recommended primarily as an internal or external antistatic agent. When introduced internally, the product migrates to the surface of the polymer, where it interacts with atmospheric humidity, reduces surface resistance, and allows static charge to dissipate over a long period. The best results in reducing surface resistance are seen in materials made from polyolefins; the product is also recommended as an anti-static additive for polyethylene and polypropylene film.
