MSP v.1 (styrenated phenol) is a substance consisting of a mixture of the reaction products of phenol and styrene: primarily monostyrenated, distyrenated and tristyrenated phenol.
The product is poorly soluble in water but dissolves well in most organic solvents. MSP v.1 is a colourless liquid, but it can also have a bright yellow, pale straw colour. The dynamic viscosity of the product at a temperature of 25 °C ranges between 300–500 mPa.s, while its viscosity under the same temperature conditions is about 1.08 g/cm3. The boiling point of MSP v.1 is 240 °C and the flash point is higher than 100 °C.
