POLIkol 4000

POLIkol 4000 is a product from the group of polyoxyethylene glycols (PEG with an average molecular weight of 4000) with the INCI name: PEG-90.

The commercial product is a white to light yellow wax offered in the form of pastilles. The solidification temperature of the product is about 55 °C. The product dissolves without limit in water, lower aliphatic alcohols, ethyl ether and chloroform. It is a safe, non-toxic preparation that does not irritate the skin, which is why it is used as a water-soluble additive in solid cosmetics such as lipsticks. POLIkol 4000 can be used as a moisture-retaining agent in cosmetic preparations such as creams, facial cleansers, peels and make-up removers. It can be added to a formulation to improve its rheological properties (increasing viscosity). The product can also be used as a carrier of the active ingredient and a binder in dishwashing tablets, laundry tablets and bath salts.
