Tequat E is a cationic surfactant.
It is obtained by condensation of fatty acids of animal origin and triethanolamine, followed by quaternization. The commercial product is offered in isopropanol as a soft, white to yellow paste. The INCI name of the product is: Dihydrogenated Tallowethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate & Ditallowethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate. The product forms a dispersion in water. Its density at 50 °C is approximately 0.964 g/ml. Its solidification point is 40 °C and its flash point is 78 °C.
